A Night in the Orient
How could I have forgotten this latest illustration? I meant to post this in my last entry - the advertisement poster for the recent, aforementioned "Night in the Orient" concert. Everything but the photograph and banner font was hand-illustrated - with luck, I will post close-ups in the next entry. For now, enjoy this peacock-focused flight of fancy!
I wasn't born a century too late - rather, I was put here now, to keep the old music, clothing, dances and other stuff alive and well. I'm a traditional (pen, ink and pencils - no computers) illustrator, with a style that marries elements of Beardsley, Held Jr, fairground art and more - call it Linear Tomfoolery.
I live in Dallas, happily in the clutches of an equally archaic musician. It's a deeply oddball, and profoundly fulfilling, existence.
Neat, Danielle! I love the rich background gradient, contrasting with the cool figures. :D
